Gasoline prices in Rhode Island remain the same this week, according to AAA Northeast.
AAA Northeast’s December 16 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.50 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is 5 cents below the national average of $2.55. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 2 cents higher at $2.52 per gallon.
“Prices generally are within a few cents of where they’ve been throughout the fall,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of AAA Public and Government Affairs. “In the lead up to the holidays we may see a small spike in demand, but not enough to impact gas prices substantially.”
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 31 cents, from a low of $2.38 to a high of $2.69. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area. Please remember to slow down and move over for any emergency vehicles on the side of the road.
