Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down one cent this week, according to AAA Northeast.
AAA Northeast’s January 27 survey of prices in Massachusetts finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.52 per gallon. Massachusetts’s price is 1 cent above the national average of $2.51. A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 12 cents lower at $2.40 per gallon.
“Increased total domestic supplies of gasoline have helped to ease pump prices,” said Mary Maguire, Director, Public and Legislative Affairs. “Typically, we see lower demand during this time of year. When combined with high supply levels, pump prices usually decrease in response.”
The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 76 cents, from a low of $2.29 to a high of $3.05. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area. Please remember to slow down and move over for any emergency vehicles on the side of the road.
