Wayne, N.J., July 13, 2020 — New Jersey’s average gas price increased two cents from last week to today’s average of $2.18 ($2.16). Today’s price is nine cents more expensive than a month ago ($2.09) and 64 cents cheaper than July 13, 2019 ($2.82). New Jersey’s average gas price is one cent cheaper than the national average.
AAA Northeast’s July 13th survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be $2.19, up one cent from last week ($2.18). Today’s national average price is nine cents more than a month ago ($2.10), and 59 cents cheaper than this day last year ($2.78).
“The Energy Information Administration’s (EIA) data shows gasoline demand and supply continue on a roller coaster ride,” said Robert Sinclair Jr., Manager of Media Relations for AAA Northeast. “As motorists react to unfolding COVID-19 information, we are seeing driving behaviors related to filling-up ebb and flow.”
The average gas price increased in neighboring states as well. The average price in Connecticut is up three cents to $2.19 ($2.16). New York and Pennsylvania drivers are paying an average of $2.25 and $2.44 for a gallon of gas, respectively, up one cent from last week ($2.24 and $2.43). Hawaii has the highest average for a gallon of gas, at $3.21/gallon, while Mississippi has the cheapest at $1.84/gallon.
