Westwood, M.A., July 27, 2020 — Massachusetts’s average gas price is up one cent from last week ($2.13), averaging $2.14 per gallon. Today’s price is 4 cents higher than a month ago ($2.10) and 60 cents cheaper than July 27, 2019 ($2.74). Massachusetts’s average gas price is 4 cents lower than the national average.
“As COVID-19 case numbers surpass 4 million, demand for gasoline is weakening across the country,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast Director of Public and Legislative Affairs. “The latest Energy Information Administration (EIA) demand reading measures at 8.5 million barrels per day, which is about 11% less than a year ago. Gas prices are likely to fluctuate throughout the rest of the summer due to COVID-19 concerns.”
AAA Northeast’s July 27 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be one cent lower than last week, averaging $2.18 a gallon. Today’s national average price is 1 cent higher than a month ago ($2.17), and 56 cents cheaper than this day last year ($2.74).
