Westwood, M.A., August 3, 2020 — Massachusetts’s average gas price is down one cent from last week ($2.14), averaging $2.13 per gallon. Today’s price is 3 cents higher than a month ago ($2.10) and 60 cents cheaper than August 3, 2019 ($2.73). Massachusetts’s average gas price is 5 cents lower than the national average.
“There’s no doubt that this is the cheapest summer at the pump for drivers in more than a decade. The last two months have posted a national average of $2.14,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast Director of Public and Legislative Affairs. “While we expect to see typical fluctuation, August gas prices are not expected to spike, especially amid increases in COVID-19 cases.”
AAA Northeast’s August 3 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be the same as last week, averaging $2.18 a gallon. Today’s national average price is 1 cent higher than a month ago ($2.17), and 53 cents cheaper than this day last year ($2.71).
