With new coronavirus cases being announced every day, many Americans thinking about air travel have one thing on their mind: Is it safe to fly? AAA can’t make that decision for its members but is providing valuable information on travel safety to help travelers make the decision that is right for them.
Please join us to hear a discussion on this subject at a free online event which will take place on Thursday, September 3rd from 4-5 pm EDT.
At this event, AAA will moderate a discussion with airline industry and government representatives to assess the latest safety and wellness protocols implemented to keep travelers healthy as they take to the sky. These experts will advise you what to expect at the airport and onboard your flight, and the steps you can take to prepare for a healthy journey.
Speakers will include:
- Huntley Lawrence, Director of Aviation for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Mr. Lawrence directs some of the world’s busiest airport systems including JFK International Airport, LaGuardia Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, Stewart International Airport, Teterboro Airport and Atlantic City International Airport.
- Ramsay Hammad, Managing Director of Global Cleanliness Operations for Delta Airlines. Delta Airlines is ranked second among the world’s largest airlines and is headquartered in its largest hub, Atlanta Georgia.
- Marius Carstensen, Head of Trade Sales, Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. Cathay Pacific Airways is the flag carrier of Hong Kong and Mr. Carstensen is responsible for managing and developing market and sales strategies for the airline in New England.
“Research is important to any traveler ahead of a trip. It’s no different with the coronavirus,” said Diana Gugliotta Senior Manager Public Affairs, AAA Northeast, who will be moderating this online event. “Become familiar with the Center for Disease Control’s recommendations, consult your healthcare professional, talk to your travel provider about waiver policies and chat with a travel agent before making any decision.”
