Wayne, N.J., October 19, 2020 — New Jersey’s average gas price increased by one cent this week to $2.24 this week ($2.23). Today’s price is five cents more expensive than a month ago ($2.19) and 32 cents cheaper than October 19, 2019 ($2.56). New Jersey’s average gas price is eight cents higher than the national average.
AAA Northeast’s October 19th survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be $2.16, down two cents from last week. Today’s national average price is two cents cheaper than a month ago ($2.18), and 49 cents cheaper than this day last year ($2.65).
Average gas prices dropped by a penny all around the region. Connecticut drivers are paying an average of $2.17; Empire State motorists an average of $2.24, and drivers in Pennsylvania an average of $2.48. Hawaii has the highest average for a gallon of gas, at $3.24/gallon, while Mississippi has the lowest at $1.84/gallon.
