Providence, R.I., October 13, 2020 — Rhode Island’s average gas price remain unchanged from last week ($2.13), averaging $2.13 per gallon. Today’s price is 2 cents lower than a month ago ($2.15) and 37 cents cheaper than October 13, 2019 ($2.50). Rhode Island’s average gas price is 5 cents lower than the national average.
“In a typical year, a hurricane season like we’ve experienced this year would have caused gas prices to spike, but 2020 is not a typical year,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Northeast. “Low U.S. gasoline demand has helped contain any impact to gas prices locally and regionally throughout this hurricane season.”
AAA Northeast’s October 13 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be the same as last week, averaging $2.18 a gallon. Today’s national average price is 4 cents higher than a month ago ($2.22), and 47 cents cheaper than this day last year ($2.65).
