Wayne, N.J., October 26, 2020 — New Jersey’s average gas price dropped two cents this week to $2.22 ($2.24). Today’s price is five cents more expensive than a month ago ($2.17) and 34 cents cheaper than October 26, 2019 ($2.56). New Jersey’s average gas price is six cents higher than the national average.
AAA Northeast’s October 26th survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be $2.16, unchanged from last week. Today’s national average price is two cents cheaper than a month ago ($2.18), and 44 cents cheaper than this day last year ($2.60).
“The U.S. has a very healthy level of gasoline stocks due to lower demand and that is keeping gas prices low,” said Robert Sinclair, Jr., Senior Manager of Public Affairs for AAA Northeast. “The majority of states have cheaper gas prices compared to last month, many paying 3 to 8 cents less. That downward trend at the pump is likely to continue.”
Average gas prices are relatively similar to last week throughout the region. Connecticut drivers are paying an average of $2.16, down a penny from last week ($2.17). In New York, the average gas price is $2.24, unchanged from last week. And in Pennsylvania, the average price for a gallon of gas is $2.46, down two cents from a week ago ($2.48). Hawaii has the highest average for a gallon of gas, at $3.26/gallon, while Missouri has the lowest at $1.82/gallon.
