For the third consecutive week, there has been no change in Connecticut’s average gas prices, while nationally, Thanksgiving’s national price average is shaping up to be the lowest since 2015, says AAA Northeast.
Today, Connecticut’s statewide average for a gallon of self-serve regular remains at $2.13, the same as it was last week. Compared to last year, prices are 53 cents lower.
National average prices have dropped 2 cents to $2.11 and today are 48 cents lower than last year.
“As we head into December, we’re seeing lower demand and higher supplies,” said Fran Mayko, AAA Northeast spokeswoman. “Typically, cheaper gas prices are an incentive for people to travel during the upcoming holiday, but that’s just not the case this year because of the number of increasing Covid cases, renewed quarantine guidelines, and the latest recommendations by the CDC.”
Here is AAA’s weekly price survey of Connecticut’s six metro regions:
Greater Bridgeport $2.20 Lower Fairfield County: $2.18
New Haven/Meriden $2.11 Greater Hartford $2.09
New London/Norwich $2.14 Windham/Middlesex $2.18
Statewide Average: $2.13
