State and national gas prices continue to increase with today’s averages the highest they’ve been since March 2020.
Today’s statewide average of $2.43 for a gallon of self-serve, regular is 8 cents higher compared to last week; but still 25 cents lower compared to last year.
On the national level, today’s average of $2.39 is 7 cents higher than last week but 16 cents lower than last year.
“Despite low demand, higher crude oil prices continue to push prices at the pump higher,” said Fran Mayko, AAA Northeast spokeswoman. “Tighter supplies are also contributing to the higher prices.”

Today, Mississippi and Missouri register the lowest prices in the nation at $2.08 and $2.10, respectively. California and Hawaii continue to hold the highest prices in the nation at $3.35 and $3.31. respectively. Connecticut continues to hold the 14th spot on the list of states with the highest gas prices in the nation. Average gas prices may be obtained daily through www.gasprices.aaa.com.
