Westwood, MA, June 7, 2021 — Massachusetts’s average gas price is up one cent from last week ($2.92), averaging $2.93 per gallon. Today’s price is 9 cents higher than a month ago ($2.84), and 92 cents higher than June 7, 2020 ($2.01). Massachusetts’s average gas price is 12 cents lower than the national average.
“Since April, we’ve seen a steady rise in demand for gasoline with more people commuting to the office and taking to the roads for vacation. This increasing demand and decreasing supply–combined with higher crude oil prices–mean pump prices are likely to fluctuate throughout June,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast Director of Public and Government Affairs. “We could see some price decreases early in the month as the school year ends, and increases mid-month as summer travel picks up.”
AAA Northeast’s June 7 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be 1 cent higher than last week ($3.04), averaging $3.05 a gallon. Today’s national average price is 10 cents higher than a month ago ($2.95), and $1.03 higher than this day last year ($2.02).
