Wayne, N.J., April 18, 2022 — New Jersey’s average gas price dropped another four cents this week to $4.04 ($4.08). Today’s average price is down 20 cents from a month ago ($4.24), but is still $1.18 higher than April 18, 2021. New Jersey’s average price is four cents cheaper than the National average.
The national average price for a gallon of gas is down three cents this week to $4.08 ($4.11), which is 19 cents cheaper than a month ago ($4.27), and $1.21 higher than this date in 2021 ($2.87).
“As the days get longer, the weather gets warmer, and pump prices dip from their record highs, consumers feel more confident about hitting the road,” said Robert Sinclair Jr., Senior Manager of Public Affairs for AAA Northeast. “But these lower pump prices could be temporary if the global price of oil increases due to constrained supply.”
Average gas prices continued to fall around the region as well – the average price in Connecticut is $3.90, down two cents from last week ($3.92); $4.18 in New York, down four cents from a week ago ($4.22), and $4.16 in Pennsylvania, down five cents from last week ($4.21).
