Today’s Connecticut gas price average of $4.69 is the same as it was yesterday, stirring hopes that gas price increases are slowing, says AAA Northeast.
Average prices in The Nutmeg State for a gallon of self-serve regular have increased steadily since early May. Today’s average is 15 cents higher than last week, 69 cents higher than last month, and $1.62 higher than last year.
The national average continues to set records and hasn’t fallen in a month. Today’s national average of $4.60 is 12 cents higher than last week, 48 cents higher than last month and 1.56 cents higher than last year.
“All 50 states are now above the $4 a gallon mark. Tighter supply and greater demand continue to push pump prices higher,” said Fran Mayko, AAA Northeast spokeswoman. “This dynamic coupled with volatile crude prices will continue to push that scenario.”
Today, crude is hovering around the $113 mark, nearly $3 a barrel higher than the previous week. Nationally, gasoline $1.05 higher than on February 24, the date Russia invaded Ukraine, said Mayko
