There’s little movement on the gas price front in Connecticut as today’s average of $4.69 is about the same as last week, says AAA Northeast.
Although average prices for a gallon of self-serve regular in The Nutmeg State have increased steadily since early May, prices appear to have stalled in recent weeks. Today’s average is $1.61 higher than last year.
On the national level, however, average prices continue to set records. Today’s national average of $4.62 is 2 cents higher than last week and $1.57 higher than last year.

“So far, the pent-up urge to travel outweighs high pump prices for many drivers,” said Fran Mayko, AAA Northeast spokeswoman. “It remains to be seen if people will alter their summer travel plans if pump prices hit the $5 mark.”
A previous survey reported 67% of drivers said they’d change their driving habits if gas hit$4.50 a gallon. That number rises to 75% at $5 a gallon. “Only time will tell how motorists react to higher prices at the pump,” said Mayko.
