Providence, R.I., January 16, 2023 — Rhode Island’s average gas price is up 1 cent from last week ($3.24), averaging $3.25 per gallon. Today’s price is 12 cents lower than a month ago ($3.37), and 10 cents lower than January 16, 2022 ($3.35). Rhode Island’s average gas price is 5 cents lower than the national average.
“Gas prices locally are in a bit of a winter lull, and supplies of oil and gasoline are sufficient to meet demand,” said Diana Gugliotta, Director of Public Affairs for AAA Northeast.
AAA Northeast’s January 16 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be 2 cents higher than last week ($2.28), averaging $3.30 a gallon. Today’s national average price is 13 cents higher than a month ago ($3.17), and is the same price as this day last year.
