Wayne, N.J., October 31, 2022 — New Jersey gas prices have jumped 18 cents per gallon over the last week, now averaging $3.85 ($3.67). A combination of tight supplies and strong demand have driven prices to the highest point in eight weeks, according to AAA Northeast.
“While prices continue to decrease in many regions of the country, lack of inventory and sustained demand here in the northeast are driving up our prices at the pump,” said Robert Sinclair, Senior Manager of Public Affairs for AAA Northeast.
AAA Northeast’s October 31 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be $3.76, down three cents from last week ($3.69).
Higher gas prices are haunting drivers in surrounding states as well. The average gas price increased 22 cents in Connecticut to $3.70 ($3.48), 14 cents in New York to $3.81 ($3.67), and 8 cents in Pennsylvania to $4.00 ($3.92).
