Despite global banking worries and weak demand concerns, Connecticut and national prices continue their slide.
Today’s Connecticut average price for a gallon of self-serve regular is $3.28, 4 cents lower than last week, and $1.06 lower than last year.
On the national level, today’s $3.44 average is 3 cents lower than last week and 82 cents lower than last year.
Lower crude oil prices and recessionary fears are contributing to lower prices at the pump, said Fran Mayko, AAA Northeast spokeswoman. Crude oil prices are in the $65 -to $70 range, the lowest since 2021.
“It’s been a relatively calm week at the pump,” said Mayko. “Given the fact that crude accounts for 55% of gas prices, it’s fair to say prices will continue to drop. – as long as crude drops.”
