The more things change, the more they remain the same – at least when it comes to average gas prices in Connecticut, says AAA Northeast.
Today, Connecticut’s statewide average for a gallon of self-serve regular is $2.13, the same as it was last week. Compared to last year, prices are 53 cents lower.
National prices, however, are seeing a bump at the pump. At a $2.13 national average, the price reflects a 2-cent increase compared to last week. National prices are 47 cents lower than last year.
Despite an increase in the number of Covid cases nationwide, an increase in demand is contributing to higher prices across the nation with drivers in nearly 30 states paying more to fill up.
“In Connecticut, prices appeared to have stabilized,” said Fran Mayko, AAA Northeast spokeswoman. “And although there’s been an increase in demand, most state average increases are just a few pennies.”
