Gasoline prices in Rhode Island are up two cents this week, according to AAA Northeast.

AAA Northeast’s December 2 survey of prices in Rhode Island finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.51 per gallon. Rhode Island’s price is 7 cents below the national average of $2.58. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 8 cents higher at $2.59 per gallon.

“Despite minimal increases, prices locally continue to be lower than they were at this same time last year,” said Lloyd Albert, Senior Vice President of AAA Public and Government Affairs. “That’s good news for holiday shoppers and those planning trips to be with family and friends.”

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 30 cents, from a low of $2.39 to a high of $2.69. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area. Please remember to slow down and move over for any emergency vehicles on the side of the road.
