Westwood, MA, June 1, 2021 — Massachusetts’s average gas price is up one cent from last week ($2.91), averaging $2.92 per gallon. Today’s price is 13 cents higher than a month ago ($2.79), and 94 cents higher than June 1, 2020 ($1.98). Massachusetts’s average gas price is 12 cents lower than the national average.
“Gasoline supply and demand levels are looking more like typical summer numbers as demand has steadily jumped week-over-week since the end of April and supply declines. The increasing demand and decreasing supply combined with more expensive crude oil prices mean gas prices are likely to fluctuate throughout June,” said Mark Schieldrop, AAA Northeast Public Affairs Specialist. “We could see some decreases early in the month and increases mid-month as the school year ends and summer travel increases.”
AAA Northeast’s June 1 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be 1 cent higher than last week ($3.03), averaging $3.04 a gallon. Today’s national average price is 15 cents higher than a month ago ($2.89), and $1.07 higher than this day last year ($1.97).
