Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down one cent this week, according to AAA Northeast.

AAA Northeast’s January 20 survey of prices in Massachusetts finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.53 per gallon. Massachusetts’s price is 1 cent below the national average of $2.54. A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 12 cents lower at $2.41 per gallon.

“Growing supplies – amid lower demand – have eased pump prices throughout the country,” said Mary Maguire, Director, Public and Legislative Affairs. “The current rate of demand is in line with this time last January, a period that typically brings lower demand due to winter weather.”

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 77 cents, from a low of $2.32 to a high of $3.09. AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area. Please remember to slow down and move over for any emergency vehicles on the side of the road.
